LOS ANGELES — Hollywood director, actor and cultural figure Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, have died, their family confirmed, as police continue to investigate what authorities are calling an apparent homicide at their Brentwood home. 

The couple, ages 78 and 68 respectively, were discovered Sunday afternoon at their Los Angeles residence after first responders were dispatched to a reported medical emergency. Upon arrival, paramedics found both Reiner and his wife deceased with injuries consistent with knife wounds, according to law enforcement sources.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division has taken over the case, with detectives continuing to collect evidence and interview potential witnesses. No arrests have yet been confirmed, and investigators have not publicly identified a suspect or released information about a possible motive. 

Family members have issued a statement expressing profound sorrow over the sudden deaths and asking for privacy as they grieve. Officials have declined to comment on investigative details, emphasizing that the situation remains fluid.
